Ivan Shiverclawe was born on Earth in October of 2383. As a youth, all his friends called him by his last name, thinking it was cool. Shiverclawe was in to aviation, and all aspects of flying from a young age, being fed stories from his grandfather about how fun and exciting it was to fly planes, and ships. Stories of being a Captain of a Starfleet Material Supply Command ship put visions and dreams in to a young Shiverclawe child.

Growing into his teen years, and unable to fly anything yet, Shiverclawe began working as an apprentice engineer at a local airfield. He built small scale working models of ships and planes. Shiverclawe would sell these models after a few months of having them, and playing and tinkering with them, in order to build something new, a bit bigger, and a bit more complicated than the last model. After getting a stun laser to properly work on a model ship, he caught the attention of a Starfleet engineer, who recommended that Shiverclawe apply to be an engineer.

Shiverclawe was hesitate at first to apply to the Academy. After high school, and with a bit of pushing from his family and friends, Shiveclawe applied to the Academy as a desiring pilot.
